I have led initiatives at the intersection of entrepreneurship and conservation, championing innovation as a pathway to tackle Africa’s most pressing environmental challenges. Through programs like the Beyond Tourism Innovation Challenge and the KAZA TFCA Conservation Innovation Challenge, I designed platforms that encourage the development of for-profit solutions to conservation issues, expanding efforts beyond traditional tourism models.

These initiatives supported entrepreneurs in creating sustainable ventures that balance economic development with biodiversity protection. My role involved crafting the program frameworks, fostering collaborations with key partners like WWF and Oppenheimer Generations, and providing mentorship to participants. I played a strategic and hands-on role in the design and delivery of the Innovate4Good Hackathon, a 12-hour intensive program aimed at driving social entrepreneurship to address pressing environmental and social challenges. I co-led the program’s development, ensuring it provided a structured yet creative space for over 120 participants across 40 teams to ideate, develop, and pitch impactful solutions.

My responsibilities included crafting the program structure, curating content, and delivering a deep dive session on social entrepreneurship to equip participants with the tools needed to refine and strengthen their ideas. I provided targeted mentorship throughout the event, helping teams align their concepts with real-world viability, social impact, and innovation.

I also contributed to the evaluation process, ensuring winning solutions met strategic criteria for sustainability and scalability. Sponsored by Dell Technologies, Carbon Group Global, and African Leadership University, the program empowered participants to transform their ideas into actionable ventures, fostering solutions for Africa’s grand challenges.

As Faculty Lead for the Global Leadership Programme, I designed and delivered an entrepreneurial curriculum aimed at equipping emerging leaders with the skills, experiences, and networks to thrive in global innovation ecosystems. As a TELUS Sustainability Research Fellow at Thompson Rivers University, I contributed to the Community Carbon Accounting Programme, an initiative designed to help businesses and communities measure and reduce their carbon footprints. My work focused on developing practical, sustainable solutions by applying principles of environmental economics and carbon accounting.

A key highlight of my role was leading a project with KIA Kamloops, where I conducted a comprehensive analysis of their carbon emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3. Using this data, I developed strategic recommendations to improve their sustainability performance, aligning environmental responsibility with economic viability. This project exemplified the program's mission to empower organizations with the tools and strategies needed for carbon neutrality. My contributions advanced both regional sustainability efforts and the practical application of academic research to real-world challenges.

I co-designed and co-delivered a social entrepreneurship training program tailored for individuals with diverse abilities, as part of the Social Enterprise Ability Research Study conducted by professors at Thompson Rivers University. This initiative aimed to empower participants by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to engage in social enterprise creation, fostering both personal and economic growth.

The program integrated practical training with a robust research component, exploring the socio-economic impacts of social enterprise engagement for people with disabilities. Insights from the study were designed to inform future training programs and public policy on social enterprise support.

By combining inclusive pedagogy with a commitment to empowerment, this project highlighted the transformative potential of social entrepreneurship, creating opportunities for meaningful participation and innovation among individuals with diverse abilities.
